The plane was designed by Lavochkin, Gorbunov and Gudkov. In 1941, LaGG was the best-armed fighter of Red army, although pilots considered it too heavy and didn’t like this plane. However, since at that time Red army didn’t have a better plane, so the pilots had to use the available aircraft.
