Build one of the most innovative aircraft ever developed from the legendary Fighting Falcon with this highly detailed 1/48 scale F-16XL-2 model kit from Kinetic. Created by General Dynamics as part of the U.S. Air Forces Enhanced Tactical Fighter program in the early 1980s, the F-16XL featured a dramatic cranked-arrow delta wing that significantly increased fuel capacity, payload, and aerodynamic efficiency over the standard F-16. Although it ultimately lost the competition to the F-15E Strike Eagle, the two-seat F-16XL-2 prototype went on to serve as a valuable NASA research aircraft, contributing to studies in high-speed aerodynamics and sonic boom reduction.
